Painter Carl Frederic Aagaard was born in Denmark in 1833. He studied art and later went on to work in the studio of respected decorative Danish artist Hilker, undertaking commissions.
Aagaard developed a very successful career painting mostly landscape and seascape scenes. His best known paintings and prints feature Italy's beautiful Amalfi coast and Lake Como. He was also commissioned to paint the chapel of King Christian IV. Today Aagaard is seen as one of Denmark's greatest painters.
